The article describes in detail (of course it is a medical science disclosure) about how Nitric Oxide is exhaled in higher quantity while humming compared to regular breathing. And this Nitric Oxide does affect the Sinus’ state. What I understand from the article is that exhaling Nitric Oxide helps reduce Sinus problems.. (anyone to correct me here?)
This revelation (to me) does vindicate my firm belief of meditating with ‘aum’ sound in expelling pollution from body. (this was told to me by my bro long back! )
With practice you will realize that humming of ‘aum’ should start in the stomach. Stomach should vibrate… Say ‘aaaa’ and try to get the air out of stomach and then continue to say ‘uuuu’. this will vibrate the esophagus and finally when we hum ‘mmmm’ throat should be vibrating. Try to stretch this this whole cycle as much as possible. Do this multiple times in a go… breathing would be good and should help the health sooner or later..
